...a-maze-ing Most people that know me know that I'm a massive fan of many sports (unfortunately watching not playing) and some of these sports may be considered....how shall we put it kindly.....boring? No, maybe a better word is sedate. For example, I'm an F1 (and huge motorsport) fan. Possibly not a sport to be described as sedate but it has been criticised recently for being more of a procession than a competition. A viewpoint that many people are now rescinding after last season and more so this season. I told you F1 was great all you band wagon jumpers....anyway, thats off the point slightly. What I was trying to say was the sports I'm a fan of include F1, cricket, snooker, and the piece de resistance darts.
Now you may mock me but have those who mock ever been to a darts event? Well I hadn't until Wednesday night. I work at Newcastle United and often read the official club site (nufc.co.uk in case you were wondering) so imagine my surprise when I saw a night with Phil 'The Power' Taylor advertised for Wednesday night at Shearer's Bar. As luck would have it my office is just around the corner from Shearer's Bar so I merrily went and picked up 3 tickets for me and two of the guys from work.

Football, food and things of an ecuminical bent Chapter 1: Premiership
It's been a busy weekend here in Richville. Frankly, I needed it. For various family health reasons, I've been feeling a bit low of late and this weekend has provided much needed distraction.

a pseudo 'Grinding my Gears' So, Keegan eh? The wanderer returns from out of the abyss and obscurity of....well just obscurity really. Where has he been? He sure hasn't been watching football thats for sure. It's beyond me why he would want to take the job in the first place. The managers job at Newcastle United has got to be one of the most volatile jobs in football. Any manager that signs is an instant legend then a few months down the line there'll be tears and lots of swearing as the Geordies turn on them. And even though it is 'King Kev' I still think they'll turn on him eventually.
Chaos ensued in the Box Office when the announcement was made of Keegan's return and for any of you that saw Sky Sports on the day of the FA Cup replay with Stoke will have seen the huge queues full of those 'fans' jumping on the bandwagon. I was lucky enough to be working that night and had to put up with those queues. Don't get me wrong I'm a football fan and if Keegan starts to make things happen at the club then great (mind you so far we've had three games and no goals...) but I hate to see people jumping on the bandwagon. Don't even try and tell me that those people queueing round the block have been fans of Newcastle for a while.

Population, one. Sixteen inches across! Today while on the hunt for brown bread for my mum so she could make us some cheese-on-toast in a typically traditional British Sunday-afternoon fashion, I made two contrasting impulse buys while in the Sainsbury's franchise...
Firstly, a packet of Hob Nobs made it into my basket as they were half price (34p for a pack of Hob Nobs! Wow!).

A quick pimpage for Team Ryouko I'm a huge fan of the work of a martial arts / stuntmen / breakdancing troupe known as Team Ryouko. They're a display martial arts team and do all sorts of wickedness.

F1 is gash Is it just me or is Formula 1 the dullest thing ever? Rich loves it but i don't know a single other person who watches it. A load of cars (some of which are shite so have no chance of ever winning) driving around in a big circle 50 times. Wow, how exciting!!
Why not throw in the occasional hazard, a big pile of boxes in the middle of the track like you'd expect to see in an episode of Starsky and Hutch? Blindfolded F1? Put all the cars on the A1 in rush hour traffic and let them race from Leeds to Edinburgh? Anything must be better than the current format of the 'sport'.

Why the 2007 F1 season will be the best, and an evening with David Brent.... Formula One is back, back with a vengeance. And I'll tell you why 2007 is going to be the very best season ever.
This time last year, British talent Lewis Hamilton was preparing for his first season in GP2 racing, having won the F3 Euroseries Championship in 2005. Rather than taking his first GP2 season easy, he decided to win it. Convincingly. Always having an eye for such blatant disregard for decent sportsmanship, McLaren Principal, Ron Dennis, snapped Lewis straight out of the GP2 grip and straight into a Formula One driving seat.
